Woke up even earlier today and left right at 6:30am -the earliest my hostel would let me leave.
One thing that was different than yesterday was that I actually had a decent map this time! Removed the really nice East and West Hall maps from the catalog last night and marked down the circles I wanted and their locations.
Got to Big Sight this time around 7:15am and ended up much further ahead in line than yesterday, yay! The wait wasn’t much different than yesterday: played Gundam vs Gundam Next Plus until my PSP ran out of batteries.
Around 10am, everyone clapped again, signaling the opening of Comiket. I could actually see Big Sight from my place in line at this point! This time, I got into Big Sight around 10:30, not bad.
Went straight for the East Hall for Atelier Miyabi’s table. Had no problem finding the booth, but finding the line for it… that was a pain in the ass.
Atelier Miyabi’s table was along the edge with other popular circles, and all of their lines were outside nearby, to allow for maximum stretchage. Unfortunately, that also meant they started to look like they blended together, and I had the hardest time finding the sign for the end of the line.
Eventually found it though, and they had this interesting system where they handed out little order cards emblazoned with Takuan Mugi from K-On!
As you can see from my card, I got the full set (the clerk dressed as Mokou even said “full set”!), including a calendar, a collection of all 3 Houkago Tea Times in handy tankouban form, Mugi-On!, and Chou Arumajiro Club’s new Touhou doujinshi.
Went straight for Ashita Wa Docchi Da!’s table straight after for their new Saki and Nanoha compilation doujinshi. Was kinda surprised by the long line even though they weren’t an edge table.
After getting that and some Lucky Star doujinshi from Eunos Press and a few other circles, I made my way to the West Hall for Nanoha stuff, and proceeded to pretty much blow the rest of my money there.
Yep, those bags are pretty much full.
When I noticed that I was pretty low (read: pretty much out of) on money, I started to head out, but I stopped by the Company Booths on the upper levels of the West Hall.
Saw a table for the upcoming Nanoha movie. The trailers looked pretty darn good. Loved the dialogue in the trailers, particularly 2 which had Nanoha and Vivio and another with Fate and Vivio.
Also visited the Navel/Lime booth since I have a friend who’s a big Shuffle! fan. Lots of cute girls in cosplay (3, to be specific) handing out flyers and a small catalog with Navel goods. Got their school calendar for my friend.
Met up with my sister afterwards, and we decided to go play in nearby Odaiba again until the hostel opened up again. So we got back onto the metro and after storing my stuff in a locker, went to the Sega Joypolis there.
Well, before that, stomachs grumbling (especially mine), we sought out food and ended up at this ramen place called Yotteko-ya Ramen near Joypolis.
Short version: Mmmm… ramen. Not really sure why the gyoza set came with a bowl of plain rice though.
Cost 500yen to get in, with the attractions costing extra depending on which one.
Wandering around, we went first for this awesome Initial D attraction which has you play Initial D: Arcade Stage 4 in an actual car!
They had Keisuke’s Mazda RX-7 FD, Takumi’s Toyota AE86 (of course), and Bunta’s Subaru STi. Unfortunately, you couldn’t choose the car.
I, by the way, got the FD. Kinda wanted the Hachi Roku though…
It was great fun though, a bit different than the arcade game since the whole damn thing moves when you’re trying to drift, it makes the game a bit harder to play. But, damn, you’re in a car!
They had a bunch of other indoor rides, like a spinning roller coaster called the Spin Bullet. And this halfpipe-simulating ride with a point system.
Also had a bunch of really tough-looking UFO catchers and light-gun games. They even had typing game machines, like a Typing of the Dead arcade machine!
Awesome day overall, I can still hear my wallet sobbing from here, but that’s alright.
On that note, Comiket is surprisingly expensive! That, and I think I went a bit overboard… I must’ve spent around 35000yen on day 3 alone!
Stuff adds up really fast, like the Atelier Miyabi stuff earlier, the calendar was 3000 yen, Houkago Tea Time compilation 1000 yen, other 2 doujinshi 500yen each, for a total of 5000yen. Even just buying one doujinshi at 500-600yen at a circle adds up quick when you visit 10-20 circles.
