Day 9: Comiket Day 3 & New Year’s: Anime is Suffering

Ughhhhh, okay, now I’m sick. I woke up feeling absolutely terrible, apparently I caught whatever the rest of my party has. But it don’t matter since there’s anime stuff to buy!

Today, we actually planned things out (kinda) to make it easier on us. Since I was gonna be in the West Hall anyway to get あとりえ雅 (Atelier Miyabi) stuff, I would go get the other things there like 迷子通信 (Kishida Mel’s circle) new work and Lunatic Joker for other party members while they would get stuff from the East Hall (matsudastyle mostly) for me.

Alright, time to get into line:

As most of the booths I was hitting up (Atelier Miyabi, Mel’s, mmmggg for instance) were shutter booths, I spent a good portion of my West Hall time outside in line. When I actually got to Atelier Miyabi’s booth, I seriously just bought everything on the table, including a great blanket which I can only assume has yuri on it (since I haven’t opened it yet, lol).

Even for these lines, you can still see the trains of people with their hands raised that get moved  from the outside lines to the actual booths inside.

Like the last Comiket I went to, I definitely bought the most stuff Day 3. In fact, I had gotten a really large paper bag from ASTRONOMY. In order to consolidate, I moved most of the stuff to that bag. By the end of the day, I completely destroyed that bag because of all the stuff I had in there. Especially after I started getting Nanoha stuff from the East Hall. I also found what I think is the only circle doing Rinne no Lagrange stuff in ココLOST (Coco Lost).

I eventually hit all of the circles on my list (I got most of them too, which is nice and unexpected) and of course got doujinshi from a bunch of other circles (mostly Nanoha ones, lol). By the time I finished, I was seriously exhausted. So, I tracked down one of my party members and just collapsed next to him near the West Hall until the rest of the party finished.

We stayed around 3-4pm or so. Around then, you could hear a chime and people clapping, signaling that Comiket was ending.

We decided to meet again at the big saw outside of Big Sight so one of my party members could try to sell his SAO stuff to a /jp/er. Also met a lot of the /jp/ers at the same time. (They actually had a meetup on Day 1 here also, but I didn’t go. I don’t even post, lol). During this, the plan was made to meetup in front of the Gundam Cafe at 4pm in Akihabara.

After this, we had an interesting time moving our luggage from the hotel in Odaiba back to our hostel in Asakusabashi. We ended up creating a system that minimized cost: two dudes got day passes for the Yurikamome and JR respectively. Then we stationed a dude at the hotel, one at Shinagawa station in between the hotel and hostel, and one at the hostel (which was me). Then we had the day pass dudes on the actual trains. This worked more or less like an assembly line. We had to do it like this because due to buying stuff at Comiket, we suddenly had way more stuff than could be carried in one go. I was stationed at the hostel because I had bought the 2nd most stuff at Comiket, so I went with the 1st most stuff dude to the hostel.

Afterwards, we went back to Akihabara and met up with some guys from /jp/. The plan was to go an all-you-can-drink and then to the shrine at midnight to celebrate New Years. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find an all-you-can-drink that was cheap and could accommodate all of us. At some point, a friend and I decided split off to drink and play games at the arcades before they closed. Ended up playing a bunch of rhythm games and fighting games at Taito Station.

I got the chance to try out Sound Voltex, which seems to also be a new rhythm game. It’s pretty complicated, with 3 different systems in play: 4 buttons that work similar to beatmania, 2 L&R buttons that you need to hold down, and 2 knobs that you turn. These 3 systems can also be in play simultaneously, requiring you to hold down a button, turn a knob, and hit buttons all at the same time. Sound Volte also has a pretty awesome track list, with a bunch of Touhou and Vocaloid stuff, like stuff from DesireDrive from 岸田教団&The明星ロケッツ’s .JP album and Cirno’s Perfect Mathematics from IOSYS.

The machine also had anime under their buttons, which is kinda awesome.

When Taito Station closed at midnight, we started walking down the main street of Akihabara. We found something really hype that was going on in front of Club Sega with a bunch of drunken otaku getting really, really hype.

Looks like Club Sega was going to open for another hour (until 1am), so we went in to play some more games.

I took the chance to finally play Project Diva arcade.

After Club Sega closed, we got some food at a nearby Yoshinoya’s and then we stumbled back to the hostel. At this point, the alcohol had worn off as well as the adrenaline from Comiket and playing fighting games. I was freaking tired (and probably really sick), so I just passed out immediately.
